These Colors Don't Run

"Things do not happen. Things are made to happen." -John F. Kennedy

The number of civilians in Pyongyang who are reading, listening to or seeing news about Kim Jong Il’s death — or anything else, for that matter — on the Internet, on the radio, on television or in a journalistic publication: zero.

Illy Espresso at The Blue Stove. Louis Armstrong and the aroma of fresh baked pastries. Incredibly charming. But the 5oz shot (!) sputtered out of the portafilter in fits and tasted like bong water. I couldn’t even drink it.

This sums up in two sentences the root of the disconnect with many people, namely conservatives. I have some theories on that, but I’ll save that for another day. Unlike this person, I am unable to be concise.

I really see modern conservatism as the backward regression of our society.  It is anti-collectivism, the extreme of individualism so much so that self-maximizing choice seems like a virtue to be desired rather than for what it is, greed and selfishness.

Bravery comes from within oneself for we all know our limits. Brave people are the ones that know their limits and know the consequences of exceeding such limits, but do it anyway. John F. Kennedy had a very clear distinction between right and wrong and in his short life worked to bring this country back to its founding principles. The quest claimed his life and lesser men erased his contributions one-by-one, but his efforts will never be forgotten. He is a symbol of truth to every American who chooses to open their eyes.
